Some ideas start with common sense.
Others start with someone asking,
"Fancy flying across the Atlantic to spend a weekend surrounded by thousands of plant addicts?"
The sensible answer would probably be no.
Mine was...
"What time does the plane leave?"
So I'm incredibly excited to finally tell you that I'll be returning to South Carolina as one of the Headliner Plantfluencers at The BIG Plant Expo 2027, taking place on 24th and 25th April 2027 at the North Charleston Coliseum.
And honestly...
I can't wait.
What is The BIG Plant Expo?
Imagine walking into a venue packed with incredible plant vendors, rare plants you've only ever seen online, passionate growers, workshops, talks, and thousands of people who completely understand why another plant is always a sensible purchase.
That's The BIG Plant Expo.
Whether you're just starting your houseplant obsession or you've already turned your home into an indoor jungle (I can relate), it's one of the biggest celebrations of houseplants you'll find anywhere.
I'll be there all weekend meeting everyone, chatting plants, signing books, creating content, judging the Vendor Choice Awards, and probably trying very hard not to come home with another suitcase full of plants.
Why I Keep Coming Back
People often ask why I choose to attend certain events and not others.
The truth is... I'm incredibly selective.
If I'm giving up time with my family, travelling across the world, and putting my name behind an event, it has to feel right. The people have to be genuine, the atmosphere has to be welcoming, and the organisers have to care about the community they've built.
That's exactly why this will be my third year at The BIG Plant Expo.
I don't come back because I have to.
I come back because I want to.
Over the last couple of years, the organisers have become more than just people I work with. They've become genuine friends. Honestly, I'd go as far as saying they're my extended family now.
The same goes for so many of the people who attend. What starts as a weekend surrounded by plants somehow ends with hugs, laughter, stories, and friendships that last long after the Expo closes its doors.
Of course there are incredible plants.
Of course there are amazing vendors.
But the real reason I keep getting on a plane and flying thousands of miles is because of the people.
That's something you can't fake.
