Choo choo, motherfuckers. The plant train is leaving the station.
Tomorrow evening Charlotte and I are going LIVE on Instagram for another The Bearded Plantaholic live plant sale.
And yes, I said Charlotte and I.
Because if you joined the last live sale, you'll know that Charlotte is now officially part of
The Bearded Plantaholic Live Sales.
Turns out two Plantaholics are considerably more dangerous than one.
If you’ve never joined one of our live sales before, consider this your invitation to come and spend an evening surrounded by plants without having to put trousers on.
Which, frankly, is how shopping should always have been.
What is a Bearded Plantaholic Instagram Live Sale?
It’s essentially our little Worcestershire plant shop being fired directly into your tiny phone.
We'll be going LIVE on The Bearded Plantaholic Instagram at 7PM UK time on Wednesday 19th August, showing you plants individually, talking you through what they are and giving you the opportunity to claim the ones you want as we go.
And now there are two of us doing it.
I'll bring the plants, questionable language and tendency to wander completely off topic.
Charlotte will bring some much-needed order to proceedings.
Between us, there's at least a reasonable chance we'll run something resembling a functioning live sale.
No beautifully polished catalogue photographs.
No pretending every plant has grown in a laboratory under the supervision of three botanists and the Virgin Mary.
You’ll see the actual plants.
The leaves. The size. The growth. The weird bits. The beautiful bits.
And because it’s live, you can ask us questions while we go.
Charlotte Has Joined The Bearded Plantaholic Live Sales
The live sales have quickly become one of my favourite ways of selling plants, and now they're becoming a proper Jonny and Charlotte operation.
Charlotte is officially joining me for The Bearded Plantaholic Live Sales, helping me keep track of what's happening while I do what I do best: pick up a plant, start talking about it and somehow end up discussing something completely unrelated five minutes later.
If you've followed me for a while, you'll already know Charlotte.
She's been behind so much of what I've built, endured the gradual transformation of our home into a rainforest and somehow remained married to a man who considers a 45-foot shipping container full of plants an entirely reasonable business decision.
Now she's stepping in front of the tiny phone people too.
So expect plants, laughs, probably a bit of marital disagreement and the occasional look from Charlotte that says everything without her needing to utter a single word.
Basically, welcome to our house.
What Plants Will Be in the Live Sale?
We’ve got a proper mixture lined up.
There’ll be beautiful houseplants, unusual specimens and, because I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to plants, probably a few things I originally convinced myself I was going to keep.
Expect the sort of plants you know me for: aroids, climbing plants, trailing plants, unusual houseplants and some proper little jungle-makers.
There should be something whether you’re relatively new to houseplants or you’re already at the stage where every horizontal surface in your home has been colonised.
And we'll talk about the plants as we go too.
If something wants higher humidity, we'll tell you.
If something is easy as piss, we'll tell you.
If something is a dramatic little bastard that might throw its toys out of the pram because you moved it twelve centimetres to the left, we'll tell you that too.
We want you buying plants that are actually going to work in your home, not just buying something because it looks pretty on Instagram.
How Does the Instagram Live Plant Sale Work?
It’s deliberately simple.
Join Charlotte and me on Instagram from 7PM tomorrow, Wednesday 19th August, and we'll show the plants one by one.
If you see something you want, you’ll be able to claim it during the live.
We'll explain exactly what you need to do at the beginning, so if it’s your first time joining us, don't worry.
You can sit back and watch for a bit before deciding whether your house desperately needs another plant.
Spoiler: it does.
Once the live sale has finished, we’ll get everything organised and your new leafy lodgers ready for their journey.
Plants are carefully packed here at The Plantaholic Haven in Worcestershire before being sent out to their new homes.
Why We Love Doing Live Plant Sales
I bloody love a website, but there’s something completely different about doing this live.
Plants aren't tins of beans.
Two plants with exactly the same name can have completely different personalities. One might have an enormous leaf. Another might be bushier. One might have particularly beautiful variegation or a new leaf about to unfurl.
On a live sale, you get to see the individual plant you're buying.
But more importantly, we get to hang out.
That community has always been the best bit of everything I do.
We can talk plants, answer your questions, have a laugh and somewhere along the way I'll inevitably forget what I was talking about while Charlotte attempts to drag the whole thing back onto the tracks.
The live sales are becoming their own little part of The Bearded Plantaholic, and I absolutely love that Charlotte is now part of them with me.

Don't panic.
You can still have a rummage through the plants available from The Bearded Plantaholic online shop, and you can also book a visit to The Plantaholic Haven if you fancy experiencing the jungle in person.
Our shop isn't a traditional garden centre.
It's a 45-foot shipping container filled with plants, sitting here in Worcestershire as part of the completely ridiculous plant-filled world we've somehow created.
You can book a visit, have a proper look around, talk plants with us and find something that suits you.
And yes, there are quite a lot of plants.
