My Book Pre Order Competition! You’re Overwatering It Is Almost Here… And I’m Not Ready in the Best Possible Way

In less than a month, something that has lived in my head, my hands, my home, and my heart for over two years will finally step out into the world.

You’re Overwatering It is almost released.

And honestly… I’m feeling everything at once.

Excitement. Fear. Pride. Disbelief. Gratitude.

That strange feeling you get when something stops being just yours.

Two Years Ago, This Was Just an Idea

Two years ago, this book didn’t exist.

It started the way most meaningful things do, quietly.

As notes. Voice memos. Rants to friends. Conversations with people who loved plants but felt like they were constantly failing them.

I’ve spent years teaching plant care in workshops, online, in my shop, on TV, in reels, in DMs at 2am. And I kept seeing the same thing over and over again.

People don’t need more rules.

They need understanding.

They need confidence.

They need permission to slow down.

This book became my attempt to put all of that into one place.

This Isn’t a “Care Guide”. It’s a Companion.

You’re Overwatering It isn’t a list of instructions.

It’s not a lecture.

And it’s definitely not written by someone who’s never killed a plant.

It’s built around the idea of levels. You progress as a plant parent. You learn why things behave the way they do. You stop fighting plants and start listening to them.

Inside the book you’ll find:

  • Plant personality tests to help you choose plants that suit you

  • A proper look at why plants fail, not just what to do when they do

  • Chapters that level you up, not overwhelm you

  • Science made human

  • Humour, honesty, and plenty of “oh… that’s why” moments

And yes… there are hidden mini-me illustrations, because of course there are.

There’s even a flip-book tucked inside, because life is too short to make boring books.

This Book Was Written Where You See It Growing

Most of this book was written surrounded by plants.

In my home jungle.

In the Plantaholic Haven.

On the grounds where plants grow wild, get neglected, get rescued, and thrive again.

This isn’t theory.

It’s lived experience.

Every chapter comes from time spent with plants and people. From mistakes. From learning. From watching what actually works when real life gets in the way.

Pre-Ordering This Book Means More Than You Know

If you’ve already pre-ordered You’re Overwatering It, I need you to know something.

It genuinely means the world to me.

Pre-orders aren’t just numbers. They’re belief. They’re people saying, “I trust this”. They’re the reason publishers take chances on books like this.

If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, there’s still time. And to say thank you, I’ve teamed up with my publisher Penguin Random House (via Ebury) to do something really special.

That’s wild to me.

This book is for anyone who’s ever cared too much.

Or not enough.

Or both.

And I cannot wait for you to hold it.

One love,

Jonny
