Epipremnum aureum – Golden Pothos / Devil’s Ivy
The ultimate plant for beginners and collectors alike.
The Epipremnum aureum — better known as the Golden Pothos or Devil’s Ivy — is a true houseplant legend. With its vibrant green leaves splashed with golden-yellow variegation, this fast-growing trailing and climbing plant brings instant jungle vibes to any space.
Native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, the Golden Pothos is famous for being tough as nails and almost impossible to kill. Whether you hang it, let it trail dramatically, or train it to climb a moss pole, this plant delivers lush growth with minimal effort.
Why You’ll Love It
Iconic green-and-gold variegated leaves.
Fast-growing vines that can trail for metres.
Air-purifying and low-maintenance.
Nearly unkillable, even for forgetful plant parents.
Care Tips
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can handle lower light — variegation may fade in dim conditions.
Water: Let the top 2–3cm of soil dry before watering again. Tolerates the occasional missed watering.
Soil: A chunky, free-draining mix keeps roots healthy.
Humidity: Adaptable, but loves the boost of higher humidity.
Bonus Tip: Train it up a moss pole for giant, fenestrated leaves like it has in the wild.
