Philodendron gloriosum
💚✨ Velvet Royalty on the Crawl ✨💚
Meet the one, the only—Philodendron gloriosum. A heartthrob in the aroid world, this velvety crawler brings the drama with broad, heart-shaped leaves that look like they’ve been drawn by a botanical god. Each deep green leaf is etched with striking, pale-white veins that shimmer like moonlight on jungle floor—because of course they do.
Unlike your typical upright philodendrons, Gloriosum prefers to creep horizontally, crawling across the pot like royalty on a chaise longue. It’s elegant. It’s moody. And yes—it demands a little floor space, but darling, it’s worth it.
Plant Stats:
💡 Light: Bright, indirect light to keep those veins crisp and contrasty
💧 Water: Moist but never soggy—she’s classy, not clingy
🌫 Humidity: High humidity keeps her looking lush and flawless
🪴 Soil: Loose, airy mix with bark, perlite, and organic goodness
Why It Deserves a Throne:
Velvet-textured leaves with jaw-dropping veins
Crawling growth habit = perfect for wide, shallow pots
Slow grower, but every leaf is a work of art
Rare enough to feel special, hardy enough to not cry over
⚠️ Collector favourite, limited availability. If you’re building your jungle one showstopper at a time, this is the next crown jewel.
Less houseplant, more botanical royalty. Let her reign. 👑🌿
Philodendron gloriosum - 15cm/45cm
The following aroid mix I would like to share with you is working well for my Philodendron:
- Potting Soil (30%)
- Orchid Bark (30%)
- Perlite (30%)
- Charcoal (5%)
- Worm Castings (5%)
Water thoroughly when watering to mimic tropical jungle conditions. It is best practice to keep the soil humid but never soggy.
