Introducing the Begonia maculata, a plant that’s less “houseplant” and more “celebrity.” With its stunning olive-green leaves sprinkled with silvery polka dots and striking maroon undersides, this beauty doesn’t just sit on a shelf—it steals the show. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting your plant journey, the Polka Dot Begonia adds a touch of botanical glamour to any space.
But here’s the twist: these cuttings come from my own Begonia maculata, which, until proven otherwise, was at one point the world’s tallest maculata! Each plant has its own unique quirks, so no two are exactly the same. They may not be picture-perfect when they arrive, but with your love and care, they’ll flourish into the stunning statement pieces they’re destined to be.
Care Tips:
This begonia thrives in bright, indirect light, where its signature spots will truly shine. Keep the soil slightly moist (but never soggy), and provide a little humidity for best results. With time and attention, your maculata may even reward you with delicate white flowers.
Own a piece of living history, grow something extraordinary, and bring a little personality into your indoor jungle. These begonias aren’t just plants—they’re legends in the making!

The following aroid mix I would like to share with you is working well for my Begonia:
- Potting Soil (50%)

- Worm Castings (5%)
Water thoroughly when watering to mimic tropical jungle conditions. It is best practice to keep the soil humid but never soggy.
