Musa acuminata zebrina - 17cm pot / 55–75cm
Musa acuminata zebrina brings broad green leaves with burgundy markings. A banana plant with excellent taste in wallpaper.
Often called the blood banana, it is grown for the contrast between its green foliage and darker red-brown patches. That pattern can vary as leaves develop, adding movement and colour to a tropical collection. This 17cm-pot plant has more presence than a little shelf starter, while still giving you plenty of growing to enjoy.
I would choose a warm, bright space and introduce stronger sun gradually. Give it regular water while growing actively, with free drainage and less water when growth slows. It is tender and needs protection from frost. Broad banana leaves can split or acquire small marks naturally; that is part of living with a plant built for a very different climate.
