Rhaphidophora megasperma ‘Gorilla Variegata’

Rhaphidophora megasperma ‘Gorilla Variegata’ is a striking and uncommon climbing aroid featuring bold variegated foliage with dramatic contrast.

The species originates from tropical forests in Southeast Asia where it climbs trees using aerial roots. Like many climbing aroids, the leaves become larger and more dramatic as the plant matures and gains height.

The unusual cultivar name “Gorilla” refers to the thicker leaf texture and strong growth habit of this form.

Interesting fact: When given a proper climbing structure, many Rhaphidophora species can dramatically increase leaf size compared to when they are grown trailing.

Care tips

Bright indirect light encourages strong growth.

Provide a moss pole or wooden board.

Use a chunky soil mix with bark and perlite.
