Scindapsus ‘Snake Scale’
The Scindapsus ‘Snake Scale’ looks like it was grown in the shadows of an ancient rainforest whilst something with glowing eyes watched from the trees.
Dark, textured foliage.
Heavy silver scaling.
A surface so detailed it genuinely resembles reptile skin if you catch it in the right light. This isn’t your average trailing houseplant.
This is stealth wealth for plant people.
The contrast between the deep green base and metallic silver patterning gives every leaf that almost armour-plated look, like nature accidentally designed tactical foliage.
And the best part?
It gets better with age.As it climbs and matures, the leaves become larger, more dramatic, and even more textured. Give it a moss pole and suddenly it stops behaving like a houseplant and starts looking like something discovered by a documentary crew in a lost jungle valley.
Care is refreshingly simple:
Bright indirect light.
Loose chunky soil.
Water when partially dry.
Don’t drown it out of love.
Humidity helps bring out its best side, but unlike some rare plants that collapse emotionally because you looked at them wrong, this one is fairly forgiving.
Perfect for collectors who like darker foliage, weird textures, and plants that look slightly dangerous without actually ruining your life.
A proper little jungle goblin.
One love, tiny phone people.
Scindapsus ‘Snake Scale’ - 7cm/15-20cm
The following aroid mix I would like to share with you is working well for my Philodendrons:
- Potting Soil (30%)
- Orchid Bark (30%)
- Perlite (30%)
- Charcoal (5%)
- Worm Castings (5%)
Water thoroughly when watering to mimic tropical jungle conditions. It is best practice to keep the soil humid but never soggy.
