A Little Update From Me

If you’ve placed an order recently, or you’re thinking about placing one soon, I wanted to take a moment to explain something.

As many of you know, The Bearded Plantaholic isn’t a giant warehouse with conveyor belts, forklifts and a team of fifty people running around in matching polo shirts.

It’s mostly just me.

Me, a lot of plants, a pair of slightly overworked hands, and a stubborn belief that every plant deserves to arrive looking as good as it possibly can.

What many people don’t know is that alongside running the business, creating content, writing books, packing orders, answering messages and organising events, I’m also a carer for my father.

Dad has Alzheimer’s disease and is currently receiving end of life care.

As you can probably imagine, life has become a little more complicated recently.

Family comes first.

It always will.

That means some things inevitably move a little slower than they normally would.

At the moment, we’re generally sending orders out in one batch each week rather than dispatching daily.

Your plants are still being packed carefully.

They’re still being checked, watered, wrapped and prepared with exactly the same love and attention.

It may just take a little longer for them to begin their journey to you.

I know waiting isn’t ideal.

We live in a world where giant companies can somehow get a toaster, a swimming pool and a packet of batteries to your front door before you’ve even finished making a cup of tea.

Unfortunately, I’m not Amazon.

I’m a bloke in Worcestershire trying to balance family, grief, plants and life whilst doing my absolute best.

So if your order takes a little longer than usual, I hope you’ll understand why.

I genuinely appreciate every single order, every message, every comment, every recommendation and every bit of support you’ve shown me over the years.

Many of you started as customers and somehow became friends.

Some of you have followed my journey for years.

Others have only recently stumbled into this strange little jungle community we’ve built together.

Regardless of how long you’ve been here, thank you.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your kindness.

And thank you for supporting a small business run by a very real human being navigating a difficult chapter of life.

There’s one other thing I’d love to mention.

This year, Plantstock means even more to me than usual.

Many of you know how much this community means to my family, and because Alzheimer’s has now become such a huge part of our lives, we’re incredibly proud that Plantstock 2026 will also be supporting Alzheimer’s charities and helping raise money for this important cause.

If we can take something difficult and use it to create a little good in the world, then that’s something worth doing.

So from the bottom of my heart, thank you not only for supporting my small business, but also for helping us support a cause that has become deeply personal to us.

Your support means more than you’ll ever know.

One love, tiny phone people.

Jonny

My husband died in 2021. We think of death as the final moment, but in reality it is a process that takes many weeks. But our life goes on and I had to send plants out. This proved to be my respite, working among my plant family kept me grounded within the nature of life and death. It changed my perspective. Love and blessings to you all, you are not alone giant beardy neighbour.

Sending healing energy to all of you at this difficult time, along with hugs and gratefulness that you have become part of my happy world. I was a carer for both my folks so I can relate. You are doing an amazing job, Jonny, and your best is always good enough. Continue to focus on the magic around you and it will help you hold onto the sides.
