Anthurium DocBlock Anthurium Briëlle® ‘16’ × Briëlle® ‘16’ is not casual collecting. It is intentional genetics.

This self cross of Briëlle® ‘16’ comes from the DocBlock line, a breeding programme respected for producing thick, velvet leaved Anthurium with controlled form, heavy substance and exaggerated venation. Crossing ‘16’ with itself doubles down on those traits. It is line breeding for depth, texture and vein structure rather than novelty.

Expect broad, heart shaped foliage with a dense, almost suede finish. The leaves sit dark. Properly dark. Deep green that edges toward near black under strong light, contrasted by bold, pale veining that appears carved rather than printed.

Collectors pay attention to DocBlock crosses because:

• The leaf substance is thicker than most standard hybrids

• Venation is intentionally amplified

• The plants mature with impressive symmetry

• The genetics are traceable and selective

This is not a fast filler Anthurium. It is built for longevity and progression. Each new leaf should emerge larger, rounder, more defined, with sinus depth and vein prominence improving as the plant establishes.

Light should be bright but diffused. Too little and internodes stretch. Too much direct sun and the velvet finish can mark. Think filtered greenhouse light or a bright UK room with sheer curtains.

Water thoroughly, then allow the top layer of your chunky aroid mix to begin drying before watering again. Anthurium roots appreciate airflow. Orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and a restrained amount of moisture retentive base is ideal.

Humidity improves leaf expansion and vein clarity. While it will adapt to average indoor conditions, stable humidity above 60 percent encourages stronger presentation.

Growth rate is moderate. These are not sprinting plants. They build quality first.
