Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Metallica’
This is a snake plant that understands restraint and finish.
Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Metallica’ takes the familiar upright form and dials everything back to a cooler register. The leaves carry a subtle metallic sheen, shifting between silver, steel, and soft green depending on the light. It’s calm, modern, and quietly refined.
There’s no loud striping or high contrast here. The appeal is in the surface. Smooth, almost industrial, with a weight that makes it feel intentional in a space rather than purely functional. It works just as well in a minimal interior as it does among heavier foliage.
Care is classic sansevieria, meaning very little effort. Bright, indirect light is ideal, but it copes happily with lower light. Allow the soil to dry out fully between waterings and avoid cold, wet conditions. Once established, it is extremely forgiving.
Why it’s special
‘Metallica’ stands out for its finish rather than its pattern. The muted tones and metallic effect give it a contemporary feel that sets it apart from more common snake plants.
Good to know
This is a slow-growing indoor houseplant that values neglect more than attention. Overwatering is the only real risk. Otherwise, it simply does its thing and improves with time.
If you want structure without noise and a plant that complements modern spaces effortlessly, Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Metallica’ is a strong choice.
Cool. Minimal. Rock solid.

The following aroid mix I would like to share with you is working well for my Hoya:
- Potting Soil (30%)
- Orchid Bark (30%)
- Perlite (30%)
- Charcoal (5%)
- Worm Castings (5%)
Water thoroughly when watering to mimic tropical jungle conditions. It is best practice to keep the soil humid but never soggy.
