Epipremnum giganteum ‘Marble Variegata’

Marble, Muscle and Pure Jungle Drama

Some variegated plants are delicate little divas.

Epipremnum giganteum ‘Marble Variegata’ skipped that meeting entirely.

This extraordinary climber combines the sheer size and vigour of Epipremnum giganteum with breathtaking marbled variegation that splashes every leaf with unpredictable swirls of cream, lime and deep emerald green. Every new leaf arrives like a surprise gift from the jungle, with no two patterns ever repeating themselves. It’s bold, unapologetic and impossible to ignore.

Native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, Epipremnum giganteum spends its life scrambling up towering trees, using aerial roots to climb ever closer to the light. As it matures, the foliage becomes increasingly enormous, living up to its name with broad, glossy leaves that can dwarf many other climbing houseplants when given the chance.

This variegated form takes that natural grandeur and turns it into living artwork. Give it a moss pole or plank to climb and you’ll be rewarded with larger leaves, stronger growth and even more spectacular marbling as it settles into its new home. It’s one of those plants that seems to level up every few months.

It thrives in bright, indirect light where the variegation can really shine, alongside a chunky, well-draining aroid mix that allows the roots plenty of air. Water when the compost begins to dry, keep it warm and, if you can, treat it to a little extra humidity. It’ll thank you by reaching ever upwards in search of its next adventure.

Some houseplants politely occupy a shelf.

Epipremnum giganteum ‘Marble Variegata’ has loftier ambitions.

It’s determined to turn your home into a rainforest… one magnificent leaf at a time.

  • The following aroid mix I would like to share with you is working well for my Epipremnum:

    • Potting Soil (30%)
    • Orchid Bark (30%)
    • Perlite (30%)
    • Charcoal (5%)
    • Worm Castings (5%)

Water thoroughly when watering to mimic tropical jungle conditions. It is best practice to keep the soil humid but never soggy.
