Kaempferia rotunda - 8cm pot / 15cm+
Kaempferia rotunda is a ginger relative with a proper life happening underneath the compost. It grows from a rhizome, an underground stem that stores the resources for fresh growth. Above it, broad patterned leaves bring a completely different shape to the jungle.
The seasonal rhythm is part of growing it. When it is actively producing foliage, give it warmth, filtered light and steady moisture. If it naturally dies back and rests, its needs change: a leafless resting rhizome cannot use water like a plant in full growth. That is not an excuse to panic-water it back into action. Follow the plant and let the growing cycle lead.
One live plant in a 8cm nursery pot. Minimum height 15cm, including the pot. Listed heights are minimums; your plant will usually be taller. Leaf count, colour and markings vary naturally. Decorative pot not included. This is a young plant; mature leaf shape and size develop with time and growing conditions.
Pet friendly: Yes — considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
