The jungle doesn't have to stop at the edge of a plant pot. A Tillandsia air plant lets it climb onto an open display, perch on a branch and generally make itself interesting in all sorts of places.
I love the sculptural shapes in a mixed air-plant selection. Leaves can fan, curl or reach out like little tentacles, giving you something completely different from another broad green blade. Place one among smoother foliage and the contrast is lovely.
Tillandsias come from the Americas and belong to the bromeliad family. Many have evolved to live on branches, drawing moisture and nutrients through tiny structures on their leaves. That frosted or silvery appearance you see on some species comes from those leaf scales. The beautiful surface is doing a job.
You're adopting one plant from the mix, with its own species, shape and character. I would give it light, airflow and an open support so you can enjoy the whole outline.
