Begonia chlorosticta

Begonia chlorosticta is famous for its dark green leaves covered in glowing lime-green spots.

This species comes from the rainforests of Borneo where it grows in shaded areas with extremely high humidity.

The spots are caused by specialised leaf cells that concentrate chlorophyll in specific regions, creating the distinctive pattern.

Interesting fact: In ideal conditions the underside of the leaves develops a deep burgundy colour, adding further contrast.

Care tips:

High humidity and bright filtered light.

Use a light, well-draining soil mix.

Avoid cold temperatures.
